Ripening Reach Operator
Job Description
FS Staffing is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Ripening Reach Operator for a food distribution center in Hartford, CT. This position is responsible for operating a stand-up reach truck to move, store, and replenish products within the ripening and warehouse areas. The ideal candidate has previous reach truck experience, works well in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to maintaining food safety, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency.
Location: Hartford, CT
Pay Rate: $18.50 per hour
Shift: 1st Shift 7: 00 AM Start Time
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate a stand-up reach truck to transport, store, and retrieve palletized products in the ripening and warehouse areas.
- Move products to and from ripening rooms, staging areas, and storage locations.
- Load, unload, stock, and replenish inventory as directed.
- Use RF scanners or warehouse management systems to ensure accurate inventory tracking.
- Perform daily pre-shift inspections of material handling equipment and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
- Follow all food safety, GMP, OSHA, and company safety guidelines.
- Verify product quantities and inspect products for damage before moving or storing.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Assist with other warehouse duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous stand-up reach truck experience required.
- Food distribution or warehouse experience preferred.
- Experience operating material handling equipment in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with RF scanners and warehouse management systems is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in warehouse and ripening room environments with varying temperatures.
- Frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
- Stand, walk, bend, reach, twist, and climb on and off equipment throughout the shift.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
